Shockwave Sequence
-
Cached Niagara Fluids
Cached Fluids allowed for a detailed simulation yet with an optimized and quickly iterable approach.
-
Cached Chaos Simulations
Simulated Chaos enabled control over rock velocity velocity, direction and impact.
-
Dynamic Post Processing
Dynamic post helped amplify the build up and the delivery of the sequence.
This Sequence was used as a learning experience to teach me the basics of Niagara Fluids and in turn how I can use the tools to fit the needs of my artistic direction.
The Jump
For the Jump, It needed to create a sense of impact. This was created through a Cached Niagara Fluids Simulation, a burst of Niagara particles and a Cached Chaos Simulation. These elements time together nicely, leading up to the main effect.
The Impact
The Impact was generated through two main elements: Niagara Fluids and a Cached Chaos Simulation.
This Cached Niagara Fluid Simulation taught me a lot in terms of performance vs visual fidelity as well as timing the explosion to the characters impact.
Tying the Niagara Fluid Simulation with a Cached Chaos Simulation allowed for a greater sense of impact and with previous experience with this, it made the process a lot more efficient.
These elements were finally combined together with dynamic post processing effects such as a black and white impact frame as well as custom lighting, environmental sunlight changes, camera shakes and more! The amalgamation of these effects created a very high quality and engaging sequence!
